Every Blox Fruits player eventually faces this decision: Buddha or Magma?

Both are Legendary-tier fruits with Awakenings, strong PvE performance, and passionate defenders. But they play completely differently, scale differently across the three seas, and serve different endgame purposes.

Here’s the comparison that cuts through the noise.

Quick Verdict

ActivityWinner
Level grinding (all seas)Buddha
Raids (tanking)Buddha
Raids (DPS)Magma (Awakened)
Sea Events / Sea BeastsMagma (Awakened)
Boss huntingMagma (Awakened)
PvPNeither (both off-meta)

If you only do one thing — grind levels — buy Buddha. If you split time between grinding, Sea Events, and bossing, Magma offers more versatility per Beli spent.

Buddha: The Grinding King

How It Works

Transforming into Buddha triples your character’s hitbox and reduces incoming damage by ~64%. Your basic attacks (M1 clicks) now hit everything within that enormous hitbox. Pair this with a strong sword or fighting style, and you clear groups of NPCs in seconds without taking meaningful damage.

Why It Dominates Grinding

Buddha solves grinding’s two biggest problems: dying to NPC damage and spending time chasing individual enemies. The damage reduction means you can pull 8-10 enemies and tank them all. The hitbox means every click hits all of them.

In Second and Third Sea, where enemy density and damage spike, Buddha transforms grinding from a chore into autopilot. You can watch videos on a second monitor while farming.

The Catch

Buddha is slow while transformed. Travel between islands takes longer. You need a sword or fighting style investment — fruit stats don’t affect transformed M1 damage. And Buddha is expensive (1.2M Beli) for First Sea players.

Magma: The Versatile Workhorse

How It Works

Magma creates lava pools that deal massive damage-over-time to anything standing in them. Awakened Magma amplifies this with larger AoE, higher tick damage, and a powerful Z-move that melts grouped enemies. The Logia immunity means lower-level NPCs can’t hit you at all.

Where Magma Wins

Sea Events: Magma is top-tier for Sea Beast and Sea Event farming. The passive walk-on-water ability eliminates boat dependency. The damage-over-time melts Sea Beasts faster than almost any fruit in its price range.

Bossing: Awakened Magma’s sustained DPS outperforms Buddha against single high-HP targets. Raid bosses die faster to Magma’s lava pools than Buddha’s M1 spam.

Budget: At 850K-960K Beli, Magma is 25-30% cheaper than Buddha. For First Sea players building their account, the savings matter.

The Catch

Magma farming is less safe than Buddha. No damage reduction means you actually have to dodge. The AoE requires enemies to stand in lava pools — mobile NPCs reduce efficiency. And Magma’s attacks are too slow and telegraphed for PvP.

By Game Stage

StageRecommendationWhy
First Sea (1-700)Light > Magma > BuddhaLight’s flight speed is unmatched for island hopping. Magma’s Logia immunity protects you. Buddha is expensive and slow without Second Sea income.
Second Sea (700-1500)BuddhaThis is where Buddha’s efficiency pulls ahead. Enemy density increases. The damage reduction becomes essential.
Third Sea (1500+)BuddhaStill the safest and most efficient grinder. Endgame mobs hit hard — 64% damage reduction is irreplaceable.
Sea EventsMagma (Awakened)Walk on water. Melt Sea Beasts. No contest.
Max Level FarmingBothKeep both: Buddha for level grinding and raids, Magma for Sea Events and boss farming.

The Verdict

Buy Buddha if: You’re in Second Sea or beyond, your primary goal is hitting max level, and you want the safest, most efficient grinding experience in the game.

Buy Magma if: You’re in First Sea on a budget, you love Sea Event farming, or you want a versatile PvE fruit that does everything decently without excelling at anything.

Ideally, own both. Buddha for the grind to max level. Magma for Sea Events and bossing. Swap based on what you’re doing that session. Most veteran players keep both in their inventory.

Neither is a PvP fruit, so don’t factor PvP into this decision. If PvP is your goal, save for Dough, Dragon, Kitsune, or Portal instead.
