TDS Maps Overview
Tower Defense Simulator features dozens of maps, each with unique layouts, enemy paths, and challenges. Understanding each map’s layout is the foundation of winning — a great tower composition with bad placement will still lose.
Maps are organized by difficulty and availability. This guide covers every major map with specific placement strategies and tips.
Beginner Maps (Easy)
Museum
Difficulty: Easy Enemy Paths: 1 Best For: Learning the game, testing strategies
For a complete ranking of all towers with stats and loadout recommendations, see the TDS Towers Tier List.
Map Layout: Single winding path through a museum-themed environment. Simple and predictable.
Strategy:
- Place towers along the longest straight section of the path
- Position your Commander in the center of your damage towers
- Add a Farm on the side of the map (safe from enemies)
- Focus fire on the boss wave (usually Wave 18)
Best Tower Spots:
| Spot | Tower Type | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| First curve | Damage (Scout/Golden Scout) | Enemies are still grouped |
| Mid-path inside corner | Pyromancer | Maximum burn coverage |
| Last curve | Accelerator/Rocketeer | Boss wave cleanup |
Wave Tips:
- Waves 1-5: Build economy
- Waves 6-12: Add damage towers
- Waves 13-20: Max out upgrades, save for boss
Casual
Difficulty: Easy Enemy Paths: 1 Best For: Practicing tower combos, very forgiving
Strategy: Casual mode gives you more coins and slower waves. Use this map to experiment with different tower combinations. Try adding an extra Farm for economy practice, or test whether Freezer + Accelerator combo works for your playstyle.
Normal Maps (Medium)
Alien Attack
Difficulty: Medium Enemy Paths: 1-2 Best For: First challenging map after Museum
Map Layout: Straight primary path with a small branching section. Alien-themed enemies with unique abilities.
Strategy:
- Place towers to cover both the main path and the branch
- Use Electroshocker to stun groups when they merge
- Commander should be positioned to buff towers on both paths
- Boss wave has alien-specific mechanics — focus single-target damage
Best Tower Spots:
| Spot | Tower Type | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Path merge point | Electroshocker | Stun both incoming groups |
| Inside curve (first half) | Golden Scout | Extended range on slow enemies |
| Final straight | Accelerator | Maximum DPS on remaining enemies |
Badlands
Difficulty: Medium Enemy Paths: 2 Best For: Learning multi-path defense
Map Layout: Two separate enemy paths that converge near the middle of the map. Requires split coverage.
Strategy:
- Place damage towers on BOTH paths early — don’t focus on just one
- Commander goes at the convergence point to buff towers on both sides
- Freezer is valuable here to slow enemies from both paths
- Boss waves split between paths — ensure both have adequate DPS
Key Tip: The biggest mistake on Badlands is over-investing in one path. Split your towers roughly 50/50 between the two paths until the convergence point.
Desert Oasis
Difficulty: Medium Enemy Paths: 1 Best For: Learning optimal inside-corner placement
Map Layout: Long winding path with multiple tight curves. Excellent for learning curve placement.
Strategy:
- Every inside curve is a prime tower spot
- Place Pyromancer on the longest straight section for maximum burn time
- Commander should be placed to cover at least 3-4 damage towers
- Save coins for Accelerator placement on the final curve
Hard Maps
Stormlands
Difficulty: Hard Enemy Paths: 1-2 Best For: Experienced players, weather mechanics
Map Layout: Features dynamic weather effects that can slow your towers or boost enemy speed. Rain and lightning storms occur randomly during gameplay.
Strategy:
- Freezer is essential — weather effects speed up enemies
- Place towers under cover areas (if available on the map) to avoid weather debuffs
- Electroshocker performs well in storms since lightning synergizes with its stun
- Save extra coins for emergency tower placement during storm rushes
Weather Effects:
| Weather | Effect | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Rain | Slows tower fire rate | Freezer to slow enemies instead |
| Lightning | Random tower stunning | Spread towers apart |
| Storm | Increased enemy speed | Extra buffer towers for DPS boost |
Fallen (Gamemode)
Difficulty: Hard Enemy Paths: Varies by map Best For: Advanced players, cooperative play
Overview: Fallen is a special gamemode with stronger enemies, new enemy types (Fallen variants), and significantly harder boss waves. Requires optimized tower compositions and precise timing.
Required Towers for Fallen:
| Tower | Purpose |
|---|---|
| 2-3 Accelerator | Absolute necessity for Fallen boss DPS |
| 2 Electroshocker | Stun control against Fallen rushes |
| Commander + DJ | Double buffer for maximum DPS |
| 1-2 Freezer | Speed control |
| 1 Rocketeer | AoE cleanup |
Wave Strategy:
- Waves 1-15: Standard setup, don’t overspend
- Waves 16-30: Max out all damage towers
- Waves 31-40: Add additional Freezers and buffer support
- Waves 41+: Every wave is a mini-boss — focus on survival
Hardcore Maps
Hardcore Mode Overview
Hardcore is the most challenging gamemode in TDS. Enemies are stronger, faster, and have special abilities. Some enemies are immune to burn, stun, or slow effects.
General Hardcore Strategy:
| Priority | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Use Accelerator as your primary DPS |
| 2 | Double buffer (Commander + DJ) |
| 3 | Freezer is mandatory — enemies are too fast without it |
| 4 | Electroshocker over Pyromancer (burn immunity is common) |
| 5 | Save coins for emergency placement — waves can overwhelm quickly |
Best Hardcore Loadout:
| Tower | Count | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Accelerator | 2-3 | Max out as fast as possible |
| Commander | 1 | Level 4 is essential |
| DJ | 1 | Buffs fire rate |
| Electroshocker | 2 | Stun + damage |
| Freezer | 1-2 | Slow enemies |
| Rocketeer | 1 | Boss cleanup |
Event Maps (Limited Time)
Event maps appear during seasonal events and feature unique mechanics:
| Event | Map | Special Feature | Tips |
|---|---|---|---|
| Halloween | Various | Zombie-type enemies | Pyromancer is excellent against groups |
| Christmas | Frost Invasion | Snow mechanics, slowed towers | Extra buffer to counter slow debuffs |
| Summer | Beach maps | Water-based enemies | Electroshocker for water导电 bonus |

Map-Specific Tower Placement Tips
Universal Placement Rules
- Inside curves are king — Always prioritize inside corners over outside
- Buffer in the center — Commander and DJ should be surrounded by damage towers
- Economy behind the line — Farms go where enemies can’t reach them
- Cover path merges — When two paths join, place AoE towers at the merge point
- Don’t over-cluster — Spread towers for better path coverage and lightning resistance
Map Coverage Priority
| Map Type | Priority Spots |
|---|---|
| Single path | Longest straight section, final curve |
| Two paths | Merge point, inside curves on both paths |
| Multiple paths | Central area where most paths converge |
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the easiest map to start with?
Museum is the best starting map. Single path, slow enemies, and forgiving economy.
How do I unlock new maps?
Maps unlock as you complete previous ones and reach certain player levels. Some event maps are only available during limited-time events.
What’s the hardest map in TDS?
Fallen mode maps are the hardest, followed by Hardcore mode. The Fallen gamemode requires optimized tower compositions and perfect timing.
Should I play solo or with friends?
Solo is best for learning. Co-op (up to 6 players) is more fun and allows specialization (one player on economy, one on damage, one on support).
How do I deal with enemies that are immune to burn?
Use Electroshocker instead of Pyromancer. Electroshocker’s stun and damage work on all enemy types, including burn-immune ones.
What’s the best map for farming coins?
Museum and Casual maps are the most efficient for coin farming due to their simple layouts and forgiving waves.
